Indonesia is the home to 10-15% of the world’s known plants. This natural wealth has been used by Indonesian people to make home appliances to help with their daily life. Since there are around 300 ethnic groups with varied cultures and some of the plants are endemic to the parts of Indonesia, the handicrafts are also diverse from one area to the others. Abera wants to share these unique handicrafts with the world. We work with highly-skilled crafters from villages in Java, NTB and Kalimantan islands. The main products are boxes, baskets and floor mats made of Bamboo, Pandanus, Seagrass, Water Hyacinth, Banana Bark, Rattan, Corypha utan (Gajih), Fimbristylis (mendong) and other similar plants. Our handicrafts are a blend of local artistic styles and the current world trends which to result in beautiful and unique high-quality hand-made crafts.
